Study visit: “Carpintarias S. Lázaro”

Coordinators: Alda Galsterer and Fernando Belo

CSL – Carpintarias de São Lázaro is a multidisciplinary cultural center, with a program focusing on Fine Arts, Music, Dance and Theatre, Cinema and Gastronomy, proposing integration through culture and knowledge.

CSL wants to be a complementary space to the already existing cultural offer in the city, where creativity, innovation and multidisciplinary crossings give an opportunity to the approximation of people, community and knowledge.

Our program is fundamentally contemporary, being a space of artistic creation, hosting programs of other companies, as well as presentation of multidisciplinary projects, pretending to offer an ambitious and avant-garde approach to the city.

Reopened recently, in the first 8 months we concentrated on the presentation of a diverse and transversal program through all artistic areas, as well as on those of knowledge and innovation linked to creativity. Thus, we were able to present this new cultural center and project reaching out to the most diversified publics.

Having a privileged location in the historical city center, between the Squares of Martim Moniz and Campo Mártires da Pátria, Carpintarias de São Lázaro benefit from a surrounding that enjoys a great multicultural richness, which is an important aspect of the strategy of CSL, too, as it permits the interaction with the local communities and the cultural heritage of the neighborhood.Carpintarias de São Lázaro’s space is multifaceted and allows, besides its main goal – being a cultural infrastructure – to develop partnerships and creation of synergies with different organizations, public and private, entrepreneurial and associative ones, never loosing perspective on how creativity and innovation create opportunities for the development of a fairer and more sustainable society.
