Allies for change could be everywhere: in our colleagues, sometimes in our bosses or stakeholders, certainly in our audiences. But we have to learn to listen, to develop empathy, to understand other points of views. Putting ourselves in other people shoes could guide us towards the direction of (which) change we need; a deeper understanding of others needs and perspective is essential to develop alliances. Because change cannot happen if we’re alone.
Empathy is the central theme of the third session of the Summer School Online that will feature the masterclass from Maria Chiara Ciaccheri, a cultural project manager and lecturer based in Milan. She is an expert in the field of museum learning with a focus on accessibility, interpretation and participatory practices in adult education.
With a background in Art Management and a Master in Learning and Visitor Studies in Museums at the University of Leicester (UK), in recent years she obtained two fellowship grants to visit and research over a hundred good practices in learning accessibility in museums around the United States. Partner of ABCittà, an Italian nonprofit organization that deals with participatory design, she is responsible for the Museums and Society area and she teaches in several post-graduate Master’s degrees.
